An itemized budget using the McCausland Innovation Fund Budget Template i is required. Budgets should include fringe when personnel are involved, with justification detailing how the funds will be spent. Budgets should also list resources sought or acquired from other sources. Approved technology purchases and other supplies are the property of the College of Arts and Sciences. Applicants should contact their unit CAS Budget contact with any questions about budget development or allowable expenses. Please see the following examples of a completed Budget Justification and Sample Budget for guidance.

Please include the following in the proposal narrative: 

  • Name, rank and email of project lead
  • Unit name
  • Academic program to be moved online or developed for online delivery
  • Proposed format for online program
    • Examples include: 100% online asynchronous, 100% online with both sync/async delivery, Blended/Hybrid (95% courses online, 5% courses f2f), etc.
  • Proposal Overview Narrative
    • Describe targeted/potential online students
    • Rationale for moving this program online
    • Initial plan for online program sustainability
  • Project Activities with Timeline:  table or bulleted list
  • List of faculty, graduate students, and staff who will be working on this program proposal

Use template provided on call website and include Narrative/Rationale: A brief explanation as to why these courses were selected, course enrollment numbers, and list of faculty and/or graduate students who will be developing the course. Rationale should explain why these courses should be selected for funding (ex. complete major/minor online, Carolina Core, high demand, extensive revisions needed, bottlenecks, alleviate space concerns, etc.)

Online Course Development

Cohort members agree to work as a team, participate in professional development and develop high quality, online courses. Each team must contain an FTE faculty lead, but can include non-FTE adjuncts and/or graduate students.
